Northland Builder Inducted Into Builder Hall of Fame

December 8, 2003, Kansas City, MO -- The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (HBA) has honored home building leaders for their contributions to the local community and their lasting impact on the industry. The award was presented during the HBA Inaugural Gala December 5th at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel.

Home builder George Schluter of GWS Inc. received the association's prestigious Builder Hall of Fame Award, which has been presented annually since 1972 to home builders who have made major and lasting contributions to the home-building industry, the association and the community over the years. Schluter has been a member of the HBA since 1973 and has led numerous association committees and task forces, including serving as the chairman of the group's Missouri North Council during the past year. He presently serves on both the HBA Board of Directors and the National Association of Home Builders Board of Directors. He has been appointed to three terms by the Kansas City, MO mayor's office to the city's Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals and is currently serving as the board's chairman.

Schluter has been an active participant in a number of HBA charitable causes over the years and is a frequent volunteer for several other groups and associations. He serves on the board of directors for Missouri Valley Swimming and is a delegate to USA Swimming, the official governing body for amateur swimming. Schluter also serves as a volunteer official for national and regional swimming competitions.

Comprising more than 1,000 member companies, the HBA represents an industry that contriubtes approximately $2.5 billion to the Kansas City economy, and support more than 36,000 jobs int he Greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
